MS Access Applications
As companies grow, they reach a point where they need something more than a spreadsheet to manage the increasing number of details. At this stage, they need the power of a relational database, and very often the best choice is Microsoft Access. Access is not an enterprise database such as SQL Server or Oracle, and therefore not as powerful. But for companies of a certain size it is more than adequate, takes far less time to implement and is far less expensive to maintain. Access allows you store much more data, create relationships between the different database elements and it enforces very stringent data integrity rules, ensuring the data will be consistent with fewer errors. It is also a complete solution, meaning that it provides custom user interface forms, reports and queries, all within the same environment.
I’ve been developing Access applications for nearly 20 years, what I like best about it is its versatility and compatibility with the other Microsoft products. Access also supports the VBA programming language, so it is relatively easy for me to create powerful automation for Access. I have many years of professional experience designing analytical and business intelligence systems. The systems I develop make it easy for managers to analyze and gain insight into their data allowing them to make more well-informed business decisions.
My main tools in this area are Excel Power Pivot and Power BI. Power Pivot is a data modeling technology used to perform data analysis of very large data sets and combine data from many sources together in a single model. The advantage it has over earlier technologies is that all this is done without sacrificing speed or functionality. Power BI is a powerful reporting and visualization tool that works in conjunction with Power Pivot to create interactive dashboards and analysis reports.

With decades of professional experience behind me, I have quite a bit of insight into automating and streamlining business processes. The many clients I have helped range in size, from Fortune 500 to one-man entrepreneurial firms, and everything in between. I typically transform what was a labor intensive, multi-step, inefficient process into a smooth-running, single-pass operation that can usually be done with one or two clicks.
